Coastal Harbor Management Plan for NJ Small Ports |
Various Locations throughout Coastal New Jersey
BSG was contracted by Monmouth University’s Urban Coast Institute to assist them with the development of a Coastal Harbor Management Plan for New Jersey’s Small Ports. The goal of this project was to develop a model comprehensive management plan intended to promote and encourage development and implementation of innovative policies, programs, and management techniques that preserve and encourage water dependent uses in New Jersey’s small ports and harbors. BSG has performed the following scope of work in support of the project: – Creation of an assessment framework for developing baseline, GIS-based inventories of ecosystems, fish and wildlife, and other important coastal and marine resources – Recommendations for integration of watershed management plans; stormwater management plans; and other local, state, and regional planning initiatives into harbor management – Creation of guidelines for development and implementation of port-specific Harbor Emergency Response Plans – Creation of a user-friendly, comprehensive guide to the roles and responsibilities of federal, state, and local agencies in relation to management and use of small ports and harbors
