BSG is currently designing the HVAC, electric, plumbing and fire protection systems for a new 124,000 sf Cancer Center adjacent to the existing hospital campus. This Cancer Center will be housed in the first four floors of a ten-story building.
The Cancer Center will house radiation oncology, diagnostic imaging, cancer treatment areas, patient support, administrative and building support areas over the four floors. The six upper floors will be built in anticipation of housing medical labs, offices and or nursing facilities. BSG-MJA will design the infrastructure for this additional 132,00 sf to support these future planned occupants.
The building will be designed utilizing Building Information Modeling (BIM) software. BSG will utilize the REVIT MEP program to provide major MEP components in the model. The building design and construction team will leverage BIM to optimize the building design to minimize both the construction cost and schedule. The design will also incorporate the LEED certification process. Cooper University Hospital’s goal is to achieve Silver rating for the Cancer Center building design.
BSG will provide support to facilitate the achievement of the MEP related points, as determined at the onset of the project.
