Replacement of Executive Avenue Bridge |
Edison, NJ Middlesex County sought the services of Birdsall Services Group (BSG) to engineer the demolition and replacement of Executive Avenue Bridge in Edison Township. Utilizing the depth of their family of companies, BSG was able to also complete geotechnical and soil analysis.
Located in an industrial park in bustling Edison, special consideration of MPT (Maintenance and Protection of Traffic) was an important element to this project. Based on the site survey, BSG’s Transportation department developed a detour plan to support the business needs of the industrial park. In addition, BSG provided geotechnical analysis to verify the site’s geological stability and to identify any potential soil contaminants that might require remediation upon excavation.
The new bridge will be a 45-foot single span, two lane bridge, using pre-stressed concrete box beams with integral concrete decking and parapets set on spread footing supported concrete abutments, all designed to ASHTO specifications. In addition, BSG is engineering 1,500 feet of roadway leading up to the bridge, including curbing, striping, and drainage design.
BSG is providing overall project management for this project, including bidding support and construction administration. This project is expected to be complete in 2011.
