| NJTA Groundwater Remediation System |

Forked River, NJ Birdsall Services Group (BSG) provides operations and maintenance services for a groundwater remediation system at the New Jersey Turnpike Authority’s Forked River Service Area. The remediation system consists of treatment of two groundwater recovery wells which use three 200-pound granular activated carbon (GAC) units in series, followed by a polymer lead filter. The treated groundwater is re-introduced into the subsurface through a mounded disposal field. Operations services include weekly inspections and maintenance of the treatment system, routine soil and air sampling and testing, and monthly and semi-annual water quality sampling and analysis of groundwater monitoring wells.
This project was initiated in June of 2007 and remains ongoing as of January 2010.
