BSG provided environmental, geotechnical, and structural engineering on this project that entailed the addition of approximately 213,000-square feet of floor space at the existing Morristown campus to serve as the main Heart Hospital. Part of the footprint involved a six-story tower that can be expanded to an eight-story structure in the future. The new facility will house mechanical rooms, loading docks, operating rooms, MRI laboratories, and patient rooms. Egress requirements and re-organization of the space also required structural renovations to the existing cancer treatment facility and Jefferson Wing. The added space was designed in accordance with the latest requirements of the NJ Edition of IBC 2000. Current BSG staff also provided civil engineering and Green Guide to Healthcare & Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (GGHC-LEED) consulting services for this project.
