Our firm was selected to assist Meridian Health with design services for a major building addition at the existing Jersey Shore University Medical Center. The project consisted of a new attached building or buildings, as well as extensive renovations to the existing buildings. The scope included adding approximately 200 beds, a new emergency department, kitchen, loading dock, SPD (central sterile supply and processing), and central plant. It also included expansion of existing materials management, surgery, imaging, NICU, and catheterization labs. Additionally, some internal spaces may be redeveloped for academic medical staff space. There were also site needs related to parking and storm water retention, as well as future development including an academic medical office building and site expansion. New square footage will be approximately 185,000 square feet. Another 50,000 square feet will be renovated with the potential for construction of a 700-car parking garage.
