BSG-PMK was retained by Monmouth University for the development and installation of a photovoltaic system on campus. The University received a number of unsolicited proposals from several vendors for the installation of a photovoltaic system that ranged in system sizes from 200kW up to 500kW. Having already been retained by the University as their energy consultant for the procurement of the electric and natural gas, BSG-PMK undertook the role of their renewable energy consultant to help understand the college's needs and desires relative to the installation of renewable energy on campus. Working with the University, BSG-PMK played several roles in the development of this project. The roles were as follows:
- Performed a preliminary survey the campus to determine the optimum locations for the photovoltaic systems to set the ground rules for bidding purposes.
- PMK developed a Request for Proposal (RFP) for distribution to several vendors. The RFP contained a proposed system description as well as requirements for the installation of the systems.
- Attended and chaired interviews with each of the prospective vendors to help determine if each of the respective bids met the intent of the RFP.
- Analyzed bids received and provided recommendations to the University for the award of the contract.
- Provided construction services for the installation of the 484kW system on (4) four buildings on campus.
- Continue to monitor and oversee the solar (PV) system.
BSG-PMK remains the sustainable energy consultant for energy procurement and renewable energy and also assists the University with ongoing sustainable initiatives, including greenhouse gas reduction strategies.
