Permitting/Wetlands Mitigation

Linden Landfill

Linden, New Jersey

The city of Linden retained BSG to provide consulting services related to the city’s compliance with an NJDEP Administrative Consent Order (ACO) to provide wetlands mitigation/enhancement for wetlands disturbed as part of past landfill operations. This ongoing project includes wetland enhancements for approximately 50 acres of tidal emergent wetlands located to the east, south, and west of the existing landfill.

The scope of services includes the following:

? Preparation of existing wetlands surveys consisting of topography, water levels, and metes and bounds of the wetlands areas. ? Making several site visits to determine the existing dominant plant communities (invasive non-native and native) in the mitigation/enhancement areas and viewing and analyzing the tidally-influenced wetland areas at low and high tide to determine what elevation the native plant communities, if any, prosper. ? Preparation of detailed contract documents suitable for public bidding which detail the improvements proposed, including removal of existing non-native vegetation as well as introduction of new vegetation. ? Working with the NJDEP to comply with their specific requirements associated with the ACO.
