Township Engineer

Brick, New Jersey

Ongoing since 1994, Birdsall Services Group (BSG) has been providing professional engineering services to Brick Township as its appointed mu-nicipal engineer. During this time, BSG has assisted the 32 square mile town in becoming one of New Jersey’s premier communities. With its population of over 78,000 year-round residents, Brick Township relies on its municipal government to manage its infrastructure and facilities, which includes quality parks, sports facilities, roadways, drainage, and other facili-ties.

As Director of Community Development and Land Use and as Municipal Engineer, BSG is responsible for supervising the township’s in-house con-struction, engineering and land use/zoning divisions, and a staff of over 40 municipal employees. Other critical roles are to ensure the proper devel-opment and usage of Brick’s open spaces and business districts. These ap-pointments have allowed BSG to develop a solid, working relationship with Brick’s government and elected officials, yielding successful projects such as the Drum Point Sports Complex and the Sawmill Tract Bicycle Trail, which received a Design Excellence Award from the New Jersey Recreation & Park Association (NJRPA) in 2003.

Through BSG’s role as municipal engineer, we have aided Brick Township in acquiring over $2.7 million dollars in local, state, and federal aid. These monies have been key in developing new parks and roadways, and the pur-chase of open spaces for future municipal uses.

The relationship fostered between Birdsall Services Group and the town-ship of Brick is a model example of how the right consultant can assist a municipality in achieving its engineering and planning objectives.
