Municipalities, Schools Learn about Renewable Energy
Seagirt, NJ - March 31, 2010

Municipal and school district representatives gave an enthusiastic response to an overview of the new Somerset County Renewable Energy Program at recent outreach meetings.

At two meetings on Feb. 19, Freeholder Director Jack M. Ciattarelli and the Somerset County Improvement Authority’s team of professionals, including DeCotiis, FitzPatrick & Cole, LLP, Birdsall Services Group and Gabel Associates, explained the parameters of the program to 18 of the county’s 21 municipalities and 11 of the county’s 19 school districts. “The turnout was excellent and interest in participating in this dynamic initiative certainly seems keen,” Freeholder Ciattarelli said. “Local entities now have an excellent opportunity to significantly reduce their electric rates by way of a clean, safe renewable energy source that won’t cost taxpayers anything to install. Just as importantly, participation demonstrates environmental leadership and contributes greatly to achieving a more sustainable future.”
