Kozloski Road Extension

Freehold Township, NJ

Plans were prepared for Monmouth County for a segment of an alternate north-south route to the heavily traveled and congested Route 9 in Freehold and Howell Township.  Much of this route would be along a new alignment east of Route 9.  The scope of the project included the design of approximately 1.4 miles of a new four lane Country roadway between County Route 537 and NJ Route 79, widening of approximately 0.6 miles of East Freehold Road (now CR 55), and widening and improvements along NJ Route 79 at a construction cost of $10 million.

BSG staff provided field topographic and aerial survey, preparing right-of-way acquisition maps, traffic studies, geotechnical studies, and evaluating various alignment alternatives to minimize right-of-way and wetlands impacts, design of three major signalized intersections, design of a grade separated interchange, design of a 100 foot span bridge and two 20-foot box culverts, utility relocation plans design of four detention/water quality basins and a wet pond.  A stream encroachment permit was obtained for the project in addition to an Individual Freshwater Wetlands Permit that required alternatives analysis, an archaeology study, an endangered species investigation, and the design of approximately 1.3 acres of wetland mitigation.  Construction administration services were also provided for the project.
